Kindergarten
Mrs. Lyndsey Whitten
Hi my name is Lyndsey Whitten. I live in Ft. Branch with my husband Sean, and our son Charlie. I have enjoyed teaching Kindergarten for two years now. I believe teaching Kindergarten is very exhausting but rewarding grade to teach. I get the privilege of watching the students read a book by themselves for the first time, or write their first sentence! The students are expected to know a lot when entering the first grade, so our year is jam packed with material. Our curriculum includes:
Reading-The students have take home books they read each week for homework. They learn what words and sentences are. We also discuss authors, illustrators, fiction and non-fiction. The students have a list of sight-words they can read, along with several other words by the end of the year.
Writing-The students learn how to form words by putting certain sounds together. They learn how to write correct sentences. They also learn how to use correct punctuation in their writing. We practice writing in a journal every week!
Math-We discuss numbers to 100, telling time, patterns, addition, subtraction, graphing, and many other skills.
Religion-We discuss different saints, Bible stories, and life lessons.
Science/Social Studies-The students learn a lot about the world around them and the roles of certain people. The students are also expected to know their address and phone number by the end of the year.
